MIAMI–This Sunday the Miami HEAT will transform Miami’s Watson Island into the HEAT Wild, Wild West during the 13th Annual Miami HEAT Family Festival presented by Carnival Cruise Lines, an interactive celebration benefiting SafeSpace, the Jackson Memorial Foundation’s Guardian Angels and Holtz Children’s Hospital, the Miami Coalition for a Safe & Drug Free Community, and the Miami HEAT Charitable Fund.
The Miami HEAT Family Festival, which is the Miami HEAT Charitable Fund’s largest annual fundraiser, is a themed, interactive, carnival-like celebration in which HEAT players, coaches, celebrities and families come together for a day of fun, family and feasting. The Festival features a dining extravaganza presented by Publix, drawing the top restaurants and chefs from all over South Florida. Families enjoy countless interactive activities with HEAT players, coaches and their families, providing a memorable experience for guests of all ages.
Presented by Carnival, this year’s country-western themed event will feature entertainment for the whole family, including the entire Miami HEAT team and coaching staff, live music, a HEAT Rodeo, special appearances by DJ Irie, the Miami HEAT Dancers, Burnie the mascot, the Junior Jam, Golden Oldies, HEAT
Street Band, an interactive children’s inflatable area, a silent auction and much more.
Proceeds from the Festival will also benefit Project Medishare—a program founded by University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Dr. Barth Green and Dr. Arthur Fournier. The organization, in addition to operating a Community Health and Development Program in Haiti’s Central Plateu, also leads a group of doctors who provide free medical attention to the people of Haiti.
After the January 12 earthquake devastated the island nation, Project Medishare partnered with the HEAT and the AmericanAirlines Arena to distribute supplies which were collected during the HEAT Group’s Haiti Relief Effort throughout the devastated parts of the country.
The event will take place between 3 – 6 p.m. at Watson Island located at 888 MacArthur Causeway in Miami. Family Festival ticket packages cost $1,000 and provide admission for five persons. To purchase tickets for the HEAT Family Festival, log onto HEAT.com or call 786-777-4472.
