Jen

Glad your safe and your photos speak for themselves. These people are having a chance of a lifetime to heal physically and emotionally.

Thanks to the team you are working with; they will have a whole new life.

Hi, Julie -- I edit Heartbeat magazine for the School of Nursing and Health Studies. We've been asked to feature the blog in the spring 08 edition! Do you have this or other photos you could email me in a high-resolution JPEG format? Web photos are too low-res for print use. Please let me know. Thanks and keep up the great work! :) Barbara Pierce, UM Communications

Mission work like this is such an important gift to give to the world. It speaks much louder than any words could.

God does his work through our hands, eyes and ears. We are the instruments on earth through which He performs his works. I am so proud that my son has learned in his life to give back to the world. We are all children of God, no matter where we live and no matter what we have. These people in Haiti are beautiful and teach us and give us much more than we give to them.

It is a minor miracle to see that Leo made it to be seen by the Bascom Palmer group. The school where we first saw him with his grandmother must have been dozens of kilometers away from the clinic I see in these pictures. That means his grandmother has carried him on foot, over mountains and desert to be seen by the Medishare docs - twice in the last three weeks. That kind of care and sheer determination flows throughout Haiti and continually inspires me - and it reminds me how much I can learn from the Haitian people.
The tumor looks worse than when we saw him three weeks ago. I hope that same amount of love and dedication is taken to get him to Cange for surgery.
Jen, thank you for the updates. We at Emory wish we could be there to see the resolution of this case and the many others that the eye team accomplishes.
